EMPTYING THE NOGGIN – Jazz blow out the Wolves

EMPTYING THE NOGGIN
• Biggest win of the year for the Jazz and an all around effort. Jazz had 6 players in double figures, 6 players with 2 or more assists, 6 players with 5 or more rebounds. The ball movement was good and the Jazz rolled over a hapless Minnesota team.

• This loss should be very discouraging for Minnesota they were awful and soft. Kevin Love is a shadow of the player he has been the last two years.

• Gordon Hayward is really stroking the ball. He spent some time with working with the coaches to help fix his jumper and it is taking hold. It is really hard to implement changes in the middle of the season and he has done it. Since December 1 he is shooting 23 of 44 from three and had a super month of December.

• The Jazz point guard who have struggled without Mo put together a strong night – 14 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Jamaal had 12 points and 6 defensive rebounds. Those 6 defensive rebounds lead the team. Watson had 9 assists.

• Kanter continues to play very well. He is getting better and better. He needs to learn how to think the game and play inside the physical aspects without getting in foul trouble and taking himself out of the game. Ty was letting in run in the first half and he took himself out with silly fouls.

• Corbin changed the rotations tonight going to the bench sooner integrating the energy of the bench earlier in the game and it seemed to pay off.

• The starters returned as a unit to close the 1st half and stretched the lead from 4 to 6 and then continued rolling in the 3rd quarter.

• The Jazz held the Wolves to 19 of 63 shooting after the 1st quarter. This may have been the Jazz best defensive night of the year. The Wolves shot 34.5% hit just 1 of 17 from three.

• ‘Marvin Williams looked great. He had a bounce to his game that has been lacking. He had an injection on his knee and missed the Clippers game and it seemed to have a very positive impact on his game. He was active, involved and impactful tonight.

• Millsap who has been way off hit 7 of 8 shots though he had 0 rebounds. It is too bad that his impact right now is based on hitting shots.

• Jazz bigs did a nice job on Pekovic. Pekovic came into the game averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds over his last 10 games and tonight got nothing. Jefferson blocked 4 shots and held strong on Pek who didn’t score in the 2nd half and finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

• Strong win.
