EMPTYING THE NOGGIN – Mo hits the three – Jazz win

Emptying the Noggin
• Fabulous win for the Jazz – didn’t put this one on the ledger when the year started. Jazz are playing very good basketball, winning 4 straight and it should be 5 straight if they didn’t get jobbed by Dicky B.

• This was not a back and forth game. The Spurs controlled the first quarter, the Jazz controlled the game from quarter 2 to late in the 3rd quarter and then the Spurs had the game in the 4th until the Mo Williams 3- This game only had 3 lead changes all night.

• Very impressed by the Jazz fight tonight. They stayed in the game. This game had numerous times where they had to get a stop or had to make a shot and they did it every time. That is how they were able to be in position to win it.

• The offensive rebound by Paul Millsap to prevent the Spurs from getting their two for one. The Spurs had the ball with 47 seconds left so they went 2 for 1 – they missed the jumper – and the Jazz got the ball and the Spurs would have had another chance to win it but millsap got the rebound.

• The jazz played the final 5 minutes as well as they have all year. The finished 7 of 11 from the field in the final 5:19 of the game. Al Jefferson did it again he was 3 for 3. Jazz got field goals in the final 5 minutes from Mo Williams, Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, Gordon Hayward and Randy Foye.

• Spurs lead this game 93-85 with 4:09 left. The Spurs got 1 of 2 free throws from Duncan on the next possession and then Parker turned it over on a double dribble, Green missed a 3, Diaw travelled, Green committed a turnover. Then with 1:27 left Green hit a 19 footer to give the Spurs a 96-94 lead with 1:27 left. Then Duncan and parker missed 20 footers.

• Gordon Hayward had a great game – 19 points, 7 rebounds (6 on the defensive glass) and 6 assists. His 4th quarter was even better – 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

• The Jazz played with great energy all night. They battled all night. They handled one of the toughest teams in the NBA. This is super impressive.

• Parker is the key to the Spurs and the Jazz kept him out of the paint for most of the night and made him shoot jump shots. When he doesn’t go that is the only way to beat the Spurs. He finished 8 of 18 from the field.

• Jazz won points in the paint 48-36 the jazz have not lost when they win pts in paint

• Mo Williams had missed 12 straight shots with the game on the line and was just 2 of his last 23 in the final 2 minutes of a close game.

• Tyrone Corbin went to Earl Watson as the back up point guard tonight for defensive reasons and Watson sparked the team in the 2nd quarter. Kanter was very good in the 2nd quarter as well.

• Gordon Hayward guarded Tony Parker late in the game. Did a nice job.

• Lots to like tonight – enjoy it
