QUESTION 13 –What should we expect from Earl Watson this year?

One thing this guaranteed, Earl Waston is going to give you everything he has. The point guard position is very crowded this year. Mo Williams will start and who gets the other 15 to 20 minutes is very unclear.

Watson is a great veteran leader. He is a game changer with his energy. His is a model for the younger players. Last year he struggled with his shot, but recall he played on a severely sprained ankle and probably should have never been playing.

Earl has to find a way to make some shots to compliment the other aspects of his game, the tempo change and the defense. For the season last year Earl shot just 34% and only 10 of 52 from three. However, these numbers are way off his career numbers of 41.4% and 33% from three.

Watson hurt his ankle the first time on February 2nd. Prior to the injury in the month of January he shot 53.3% from the field. He hadn’t dialed in the three yet at just 3 of 13 but after the injury he hit just 3 of his next 22 attempts and his overall shooting dropped miserably shooting 22%.

Earl is not going to be ready when camp opens on Monday. However, when he is ready you can be certain the Jazz know they will be getting every once of everything Earl has to offer.
