2013-valerie-200Hey Jazz Fans!

My name is Valerie and I’m 24 years old. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and have loved every second of it. I knew I wanted to be a Jazz Dancer when I was a little girl and had the opportunity to perform at a Jazz game with my studio. Then, while I was part of the Utah Valley University Dance Team, I had another chance to dance on the Utah Jazz court. Being older and seeing the crowd, the energy, and the excitement, I knew I didn’t want it to be the last time I was dancing out on the floor. Now, I am so excited to be in my second season with the Utah Jazz!

I honestly feel life is most rewarding when you work hard at it, and growing up on a Ranch has definitely taught me this. I have moved sprinkler hand lines, cut hay, and moved cows while riding horses. There is always something to be done, and looking back now I can’t believe how much it has taught me about life, work ethic, and made me the person I am today.

I am happily married and while I’m not dancing, you can most likely find me with my family. I love spending my time at our cabin in Wolf Creek, UT, spoiling my nieces and nephews and working as a cosmetologist. A guilty pleasure of mine is Netflix, it is so addicting! I truly believe everything happens for a reason and love when I’m teaching, coaching, and sharing my passion of dance with others. I was crowned Miss Duchesne County and Miss Utah Valley University. While competing for the title of Miss Utah 2010 I walked away as Miss Utah 1st Attendant and had the opportunity to compete at the National Sweetheart pageant in Hoopeston, Illinois.

I absolutely love dancing for the Jazz and hope you enjoy what we do!
