2013-katy-200Hi! I’m Katy, age 23. And here’s a little bit about myself:
I come from a family of 5 kids, where I’m the youngest, and they don’t let me forget it! 🙂 I love them more than anything. Family is #1 in my books!

I started dancing at the age of 11 at a neighborhood basement studio. Soon after, I went to Janet Grey Studio where I learned Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap. After a full year there, Janet encouraged me to audition for Ballet West Academy. So I did, and at age 15, I was accepted into their school. There, I studied for 3 years until I graduated from high school along with the academy.

That’s when I actually stopped dancing and started studying hair at Taylor Andrew Academy. I never in my life thought I’d be a hairdresser, but I absolutely love it! I had the wonderful opportunity to model for Matrix/Logics Artistic Director, Chrystofer Benson. With him and his amazing team, we took the stages of hair events in New York, Chicago, St. Louis, California and so many more. You’d never know it, but I had the shortest hair in colors ranging from red & orange, to pink & purple, to green, blue & yellow! It was a blast! But after 3 years of hesitance to just go for it, this was the year I finally decided to try out for the Utah Jazz Dancers. So back to my natural I went!

I love baking any and everything! I try to find new recipes constantly. I love a good baking challenge! Reading is always a good pass-time. I like both fiction and non-fiction. If it can keep me entertained, I’m all for it. During the summer, my favorite thing to do is go camping! Nothing better than the outdoors and a nice fire during a warm summer night! And just this winter, I picked up snowboarding, (I know! I can’t believe it’s my first time experiencing it either!), and am LOVING it!!! So if you see me on the slopes, be sure to stop and say hi! 🙂

I couldn’t be happier or feel more blessed to be part of such an amazing organization with such an amazing team of girls. I love the Jazz and am so happy I get to cheer them on this year! As always, GO JAZZ!!
